I tell people one of the greatest pleasures in life is going to a concert. Nashville has some wonderful venues and seeing a show in any of them is an absolute delight. For me, going to a show is just getting away from life and problems and whatever. I put that phone down and just soak in the music the entire time.
Maybe I am just old because it seems as if everyone is on their phone taking a video or videos of the concert and missing the point. I don’t begrudge a soul for doing whatever they want at a concert but to sit back and just listen to music is wonderful. Not just one video, but multiple videos the entire time.
I will run into a friend or see their post at a concert and 99 percent of the time, the video is blurry and/or the sound is just distorted that sounds like a garbage disposal. Again, it is whatever you want to do but I don’t understand it. Don’t get me started when someone goes to a show, tapes the entire thing, and then shoves their phone in your face. Hard pass and all of that.
I was asked if I had any concert videos on my phone from some of these shows by a friend a while ago. I said no and he said, “As many shows as you go to, not one?” I just laughed and told him that I have every concert memory stored in two places—My heart and my brain. They will forever be there til the day I am gone.
Again, your prerogative and I know that, but try just one time to put that phone away and just completely enjoy the moment. Standing the whole concert and videoing it is just exhausting, I think. There are just a few places for me where I can just completely relax and be stress free. A concert is just that place.
Maybe I am just old and really, that is okay. Enjoy all the shows.
