Snooze And Lose, So Don’t

I used to say that some of the greatest inventions of all time are air conditioning, remote control and the snooze button.  I used to say that because I have dropped one from my mighty list.

The snooze button.

The snooze button has become, as I get older, a non-factor in my life, where it used to get, sadly, priority.  It is your buddy that sits with you at the bar and says, “Hey, just one more drink won’t hurt you.  Come on, everyone is doing it.”

Here is the scientific explanation of why the snooze button is bad: It disrupts your sleep cycle by repeatedly waking you up from a deep sleep stage, leading to feelings of grogginess and fatigue throughout the day.  It can also throw off your body’s natural wake-up rhythm, potentially affecting your overall sleep quality and energy levels.

Guilty as charged on all of this.  Not saying I am an angel or some new world thinker, but I stopped using the snooze button a long time ago and my energy and drive really changed a lot.  Just know when I go to bed that if I am getting up at 6, get up at 6.  I took that mindset and it really makes a difference.

The fatigue and grogginess was affecting me so bad throughout the day that I started doing some research on the problem.  As I googled and googled, a came across an article that suggested the snooze button was the problem.  No!  It can’t be because that is on my ‘greatest’ list.  The more I read, the more it hit home.  That was my problem.

Now this only applies to me and thank God I found it and was able to do something about it.  My kids, like their dad, love the snooze and I am not sure they will ever not use it.  Heck I used it for 50 years and might still be had I not been falling asleep every afternoon.

Now the snooze button is gone from list, but what replaces it?  Easy.  The ice cream machine at McDonalds.  If it is working.
