Just Take The Trip

My football coach in high school preached this to me and my teammates from our first day with him.  “You can make up a lot of things in life, but one thing you can’t is time.  Never forget that.”  I never have and I use those words to a lot of people I talk to.  There is never the perfect time to do anything.  Nothing.  There is never the right time to get married.  There is never the perfect time to start a family.  All we have is time and not the kind we wait for because life will pass you by.

This story is how time can motivate you.  How time can say to you that I am not stopping and before you know it, your time is up.  So just take the trip.  Just go because time is not waiting for you.

Recently, I took a trip to knock off a couple things on my bucket list.  I got to see the Beach Boys in Key West, followed by a trip to Fort  Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas.  Could I afford them?  No, but my advice in life is you will figure it out, because you have always figured it out.

Just take the trip.

Wherever you want to go, take the trip.  I slept none in four days and spent more money than I had but I now have two amazing experiences pressed to memory for the rest of my life.  The Beach Boys were absolutely amazing and the experience was a spiritual one that was better than I imagined.  The trip 70 miles west of Key West to the Dry Tortugas to visit Fort Jefferson was a religious experience for me.  To see God’s beauty in a place almost untouched by man and the sea life that was around there was on another level.  It was as they say, priceless.

Just take the trip.

You will never regret doing something for yourself.  It is not selfish; it is deserving.  Find a bucket list item or a place and just go.  Can’t afford it?  You will figure it out because you have always figured it out.

Just take the trip.
