Simple question. Do we really ever conquer our fears? I am deathly afraid of snakes and a friend told me one time, “Just pet one and you won’t be scared anymore.” Let’s just say that did not work in calming my fears with snakes. In fact, I think I am even more petrified of them after I touched one.
Let’s go to another fear that I have and that is a fear of heights. Deathly afraid of them. I walked over the Golden Gate Bridge gripping the rail like it was the last Tickle Me Elmo doll at the Hermitage Walmart on Black Friday. Yes, that scared. So during a live shot on T.V. on Friday, at the Sumner County Fair, we came up with a brilliant idea for me to conquer my fear of heights by doing a live shot from a Ferris wheel at the very top. The top. Of a Ferris Wheel. About 100 feet up in a bucket seat that looked as if it came out of the back of a ’74 Pinto.
I was all aboard until we started going up and up and up and up and up and stopped so we could do our segment for T.V. We had a drone filming it all and the sheer fact I didn’t pass out, gives me hope in life.
Watch this and see how it all went.

Sad thing is, just like the snake story, this didn’t work either. But, I can say I rode in a Ferris wheel that did not tip over because of my weight. #OhJojo
So my fear of snakes, still there. My fear of heights, still there. My third fear, getting sideswiped by a distracted driver. I will pass on trying to conquer that fear, too.
Conquering our fears? Maybe we do, maybe we don’t.
