Like the title says, just stop it.
Quick, tell me a remake of a movie that was any good.
Anything come to mind?
Exactly.  Nothing.
Now what you are about to read isn’t a 100% remake of a classic movie, but it comes really close.

The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. Shooting has begun in Georgia on New Line Cinema’s “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films) on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.
Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.
Rounding out the cast are Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; Charlie Day (the “Horrible Bosses” films), who plays a river rafting guide; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.

You cannot take this……

And turn it into this…..

Although he did it for Anchorman, which was great and Anchorman 2 was terrible, Will Ferrell has been staunchly against making an ELF, part 2.  He said no amount of money would change his mind to make another one because the original was so pure.  (This remains to be seen though, but hopefully, he stays true to his word.)

I can count on one hand how many remakes or continuations in movies have been good.  Godfather. Lethal Weapon. That is it to me. Sure, there might be one or two more, but that is it.
Imagine if they did Shawshank part 2.  Not with Andy and Red but back to the prison and see how the guys are doing now.
I get some of the super-hero movies work, but beyond that, no way.
Hey, got to run.  There is a Final Destination marathon on HBO now.  1 through 8.  Then, Escape From Hermitage.
