QUICK, CAN YOU IDENTIFY THIS?
YOU MIGHT NOT GET IT RIGHT AWAY BUT WHEN YOU DO, I GUARANTEE YOU WILL SMILE.
AND HERE IS ANOTHER.
YEP, SPEAKERS AT THE DRIVE-IN MOVIES.
I RAN ACROSS A PIC OF THESE SPEAKERS THE OTHER DAY AND IMMEDIATELY, MY MIND WENT BACK TO THOSE DAYS OF HEADING OFF TO THE DRIVE-IN AND CATCH THE SHOW.
SOMETHING MAGICAL ABOUT SITTING IN THE CAR, OR IN THE BACK OF A TRUCK, OR IN A JEEP, CONVERTIBLE, WHATEVS, AND WATCHING A MOVIE ON A NICE COOL CRISP EVENING.
NOW, FOR THOSE THAT LIVE IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE, YOU HAVE TO DRIVE FAR AND WIDE TO CATCH ONE. SURE, THERE ARE A FEW AROUND THE AREA, ONE IN DICKSON, ONE IN WATERTOWN, ONE UP IN FRANKLIN, KENTUCKY, BUT FOR MOST, DRIVE-INS ARE SOMETHING OF A BYGONE ERA.
BUT THEY REALLY SHOULDN’T BE.
YES, I KNOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED BUT HOW AWESOME WOULD IT BE TO LOAD UP AGAIN ON A FRIDAY OR SATURDAY NIGHT, OR IN THE SUMMER, ANY NIGHT AND HEAD TO THE DRIVE-IN?
I SAID, IF I WIN POWERBALL OR COME INTO SOME HUGE WINDFALL OF DOUGH, I WILL OPEN A DRIVE-IN. AS LONG AS I BREAK EVEN, I COULD CARE LESS WHETHER I MAKE A DIME OR NOT.
FIRST RUN MOVIES, PRECEDED BY A COOL, OLD FLICK POSSIBLY?
OR VICE-VERSA?
TO SIT IN MY TRUCK WITH KIDS AND WATCH TOY STORY 3, OR SOME OTHER MOVIE LIKE THAT AT A DRIVE-IN WOULD HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
AS I LOOKED THROUGH PICTURES OF ALL THESE DIFFERENT DRIVE-INS, YOU CANT HELP BUT GET A LITTLE NOSTALGIC AB OUT THE OLD DAYS. I AM ONLY 45 BUT I REMEMBER GOING TO THE DRIVE-IN VIVIDLY.
HOW MANY OF US, WHO WERE RAISED IN NASHVILLE, REMEMBER THE DRIVE-IN THEATER IN HERMITAGE, WHERE THE BOWLING ALLEY SITS? EXACTLY. I SAW THE MOVIE PIRANHA AND DID GO IN THE LAKE FOR A LONG TIME AFTER THAT.
I MENTIONED THIS TO A FRIEND AND HE SAID NOW, THEY DO THIS IN THEIR BACKYARD, INSTEAD OF SEEKING OUT A DRIVE-IN.
I FOUND THIS PICTURE AND COULD NOT STOP STARING AT IT. HOW COOL IS THIS? GET ALL THE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS TOGETHER, COOK OUT AND WATCH MOVIES ON A HUGE SCREEN IN THE BACKYARD.
SO VERY COOL.
WE ADAPT, MOVE ON AND CREATE NEW MEMORIES, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT THERE IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS A PLACE FOR THE OLD ONES.
