“THE FIVE”

It could be ‘The 10,” or “The Top 20,” but I chose to make it simply, ‘The 5.”
5 movies, all made in the 80’s, that you need to see at some point and hopefully soon.  They range from comedies to thrillers to bizarre, but all worth your time.  One might call them “Guilty Pleasures,” and they never disappoint me.
Here we go and in no particular order:

ARTHUR

Not the stupid Russell Brand version but the original with Dudley Moore.  He plays a drunk billionaire who must marry a certain girl to get his inheritance but falls in love with another one instead.  Full of adult humor and jokes and it is absolutely perfect.  Don’t argue, just go watch it.

MIRACLE MILE

Incredible movie!  A guy meets a girl, falls in love, was supposed to meet her when she gets off work, he is late, and answers a phone and the guy is telling him that the end of the world is near.  That is all I will tell you other than, find it and watch it.

QUICK CHANGE

We know and love Bill Murray from Caddyshack, Stripes and on and on but the movie Quick Change is one of the funniest movies ever.  The plot is good, the stories are funny and the guest stars, are outstanding.  I won’t give it away but the cab driver in the movie, you will recognize him, and his scenes are downright hilarious.  And seeing legendary actor Jason Robards in this movie and in a funny role, makes it even better.

THEY LIVE

This movie, THIS MOVIE, is a true guilty pleasure.  Featuring the late Rowdy Roddy Piper and one of my all-time favorite actors, Keith David, it is completely bizarre but a movie that makes you think, “What If?”  Find it, watch it and enjoy it because it is so bad, it is wonderful.

GOTCHA

“Funny movie about a college student (Anthony Edwards), who meets a mysterious girl (Linda Fiorentino), in Paris. The girl turns out to be a spy and gets him involved in her espionage.” I took that from the synopsis of the movie and it sounds basic, still a funny movie and actually somewhat of a thriller that you will enjoy.
